GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This is an entry level position combining clerical, customer care and knowledge of Florida law, regulation and BCPAO policies related to all ad valorem property tax exemptions. Work is to be performed under the general direction of the applicable manager of Taxpayer Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Communicate with taxpayers regarding exemption issues, either in person or by telephone, electronic means or in writing.
  • Processes exemptions applications; explains exemptions currently available to property owners, receives information from property owners, and completes application for exemptions.

  • Explains the general assessment procedures used to assess real estate in arriving at a qualified market value. Provides sales comparables for taxpayers in evaluating and explaining the market value.
  • Accepts requests for other service issues (address changes, split/combines, etc.) from property owners.
  • Responds to property related inquiries from the general public; directing public to proper agency for inquiries unrelated to BCPAO functions.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills. Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Three (3) years of direct customer service experience required. Florida driver's license.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT
None.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; frequently required to walk; and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
