JOB SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision, the Field Appraiser I performs entry-level work in the Field Operations Department which consists of collecting and verifying data from real property for ad valorem appraisal purposes. Work will be reviewed by the department trainer or supervisor to ensure production levels, accuracy and uniformity of work product.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Measure and draw improvements; record construction type, shape, condition, age, and other relevant data and notes; classify improvements in accordance with the Field Operations manual.
  • Determines accurate measurements of improvements to residential properties, using blueprints and floor plans as needed.
  • Utilize aerial photography to assist in identifying property characteristics as part of statutory inspection requirements.
  • With the assistance of a trainer, perform field inspections on simple residential and manufactured home properties. After the initial training, the field appraiser will be required to identify improvements, measurements, structural elements, additions, alterations, or demolitions to existing buildings and extra features.
  • May be required to conduct damage assessment in coordination with federal and state emergency management offices during the aftermath of local disasters such as hurricanes or tornadoes. Contingencies such as these may require after-hour or weekend duty.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • High school diploma/GED with particular emphasis in office skills, shop skills, or others; no experience required.
  • Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines.
  • Florida driver’s license.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
