JOB SUMMARY
This is an entry-level technical professional position under the general direction of the Senior Director of GIS and Cadastral Services. This position provides skilled technical cadastral mapping and geospatial work for the development and maintenance of the Property Appraiser’s official tax assessment maps.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts research and compiles pertinent data in resolving discrepancies in property boundaries and land titles. Compiles and analyzes geographic and land use information from multiple sources. Ensures accuracy and precision of parcel map data in compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Creates and maintains the tax assessment maps through the utilization of cadastral mapping methodologies, Geographic Information System (GIS) software and Computer Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) systems. Analyzes geographic data through changes in land boundaries, ownership and parcel information. Updates cadastral maps based on new land surveys, real estate deeds, and other recorded legal documents.
- Provides assistance to all PAO staff, the public, and various governmental agencies with property issues involving parcel identification, configuration and delineation as it relates to the accuracy of the official tax assessment maps. Collaborates with land surveyors and other agencies to gather accurate parcel information.
- Provides assistance with map and data sales, performs custom research, and creates custom maps or exhibits as directed.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
- Technical or a college degree (Associates or Bachelors) from an accredited university in geography, geographic information science, geomatics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and cadastral mapping experience.
- Proficiency in GIS and mapping software such as ESRI’s ArcGIS.
- One or more of the following designations is preferred at hire:
- Certified Cadastralist of Florida (CCF),
- Certified Cadastral Mapper (CCM),
- Certified Master Cadastralist of Florida (MCF)
- Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP).
- If not in possession at hire, successful completion of the Certified Cadastralist of Florida (CCF) training program and receipt of the CCF designation is required within two (2) years.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
